August, Festival in India

With the invitation from Shrustii Multicultural Centre in New Delhi, India, „Szamotuły” participated in an International Folk Festival. There were groups from Mexico, Israel, Lithuania, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Indonesia, Singapore and Poland. Each day was filled with rehersals and concerts. Our Group presented there dances from Szamotuły, Kurpie and Rzeszów regions.

Organizers have taken care of a high artistic level and of the touristic events for participants of the festival. We were able to see Qutab Minar (74 meters high minaret from XIII century), Taj Mahal and the „Red Fort” in Agra.

There was also time for shopping at local markets filled with Indian materials and spices.

„Szamotuły” returned from India with new experience. Many traditional Indian habits like making symbolic kumkum (dots on forehead) or Indian wedding ceremony will stay in the memory of our participants for a long time.
